Retained, Contingency, Contained
Lack + Daily conducts either Retained or Contingency searches for our clients, usually based on the level of the position to be filled. In both cases, we are committed to providing you with only the most qualified and appropriately experienced candidates. We will also provide you with expert guidance in background evaluation, position appropriateness, offer negotiation and closing.
When we work with a client on a contingency basis, candidates are evaluated for appropriate education, background and fit within the company’s specification and culture. Although we can not commit to meeting candidates in person, an effort is made to do so when geographically possible. Under this arrangement, our fee is billed when the placement is completed and the newly hired individual commences employment.
Retained searches are usually undertaken for more senior assignments. Our standard procedure includes:
• Analyzing client corporate culture and personality
• Defining client requirements and formulating position specifications
• Researching target companies and identifying appropriate candidates
• Interviewing and evaluating candidates in person
• Presenting final candidates
• Thoroughly reference checking final candidate(s)
• Assisting in offer negotiations and follow-up
Under this arrangement, our fee is billed in three equal installments beginning at the inception of the search assignment, with the final installment billed only after the individual commences employment.
We also offer our clients a hybrid service we call Contained Search. Contained searches are undertaken for any kind of assignment and includes all of the standard procedures identified above. Under this arrangement, we will accept an engagement fee at the inception of the search assignment. This payment will be applied against our placement fee, which will be billed when the placement is completed and the newly hired individual commences employment.
